KUALA LUMPUR – In making education world accessible for 31 pupils with visual impairment at Sekolah Rendah Pendidikan Khas Kuala Lumpur, FOMEMA® the operating company of Foreign Workers’ Medical Examination Programme today contributes several types of learning equipment through its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme 2019.

Also present at the programme was the Executive Director of FOMEMA® Sdn. Bhd., YM Tengku Shaheera Almarhum Tengku Tan Sri Abdullah accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of FOMEMA® Sdn. Bhd., Ms Kelen Leong Choy Fun and several other FOMEMA® staff.  The programme began with the opening remarks by Puan Norzimah A.Latiff, the Headteacher of the school followed by the handing over-contribution ceremony by FOMEMA®.

Ms Kelen Leong Choy Fun, Chief Executive Officer of FOMEMA® Sdn. Bhd. in the media release says, “Education is one of the key elements of FOMEMA®’s CSR programme in expanding our contribution to society towards developing a better future of education in our country.  We are beyond delighted to be able to organise our second programme of FOMEMA® education initiative this year and today’s programme is extra special with the visually impaired pupils at this school.  It takes courage to live our lives the way we want, especially for these children with visual disabilities.  This visit is really an eye-opener for us, as, despite the disabilities, their burning desire to learn and live life like others really amazed us.  It is hoped with the several types of assistive learning equipment we brought today would ease the learning process for them and the teachers in line with the growing technology advancement experienced by other children.  The teachers will also be able to produce their own learning materials using the braille scanner machine to convert any photos or documents and print it out as braille reading material.”

“This may be the first programme with them, but it’s surely not the last. Nothing gives us more satisfaction than to see the happy faces of the pupils with special abilities to explore the new equipment that would enhance their learning experience.  We look forward to moving further in expanding our education initiative and we hope our contributions today not only give these special pupils access to a better education but also opportunities to lead a better life.”
