Unitab Medic (FOMEMA) Bringing Healthcare to Orang Asli Community

Bentong, Pahang – As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) Programme for 2016, Unitab Medic Sdn. Bhd. (FOMEMA) had successfully carried out ‘Program Santai Bersama Masyarakat Orang Asli Bentong” in Kampung Sg. Dua Ulu, Karak Pahang.

The programme has been graced by Chairman of Unitab Medic Sdn. Bhd., Y.A.M Tengku Tan Sri Abdullah Ibni Almarhum Sir Sultan Abu Bakar as part of the company’s CSR initiatives in reaching out to the less fortunate Orang Asli families.  The programme was succesfully carried out in collaboration between Unitab Medic Sdn. Bhd., (FOMEMA), Pertubuhan Jaringan Cemerlang Masyarakat Bersatu Bentong and involvement of several Government agencies in Bentong District.

After the opening ceremony in the morning, the programme continued with Ziarah Kasih programme, where the contribution of financial aid was handed by Y.A.M Tengku Abdullah to more than 1,500 Orang Asli.  He was accompanied by Dato’ Mohd Hatar bin Ismail, President / Chief Executive Officer Unitab Medic Sdn. Bhd. and Dato’ Jasvir Singh A/L Ram Singh, Chairman Pertubuhan Jaringan Cemerlang Masyarakat Bersatu Bentong. Financial aid to Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Sg. Dua Ulu and top 10 Best Orang Asli Students was also given by Y.A.M Tengku Abdullah at the programme. During Ziarah Kasih programme, used clothes that collected by Unitab Medic’s (FOMEMA) staff and toiletries amenities were also donated to Orang Asli families.

The health screening bootcamp which began at 10.00 a.m. was a collaborative effort by FOMEMA Medical team headed by Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Kreeson Vengadeson, employees of Unitab Medic (FOMEMA) and also a group of doctors from Klinik Bergerak 1Malaysia Orang Asli and Klinik Bergerak Orang Asli Daerah Bentong. Among the health tests conducted at the bootcamp includes measuring BMI (Body Mass Index), blood pressure and glucose level for the children and the elderly. Basic screening were selected based on their health conditions that were most likely to suffer from. 

The programme which was held at Padang Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Sg. Dua Ulu, Karak Pahang attended by more than 1,500 Orang Asli consisting of three majority ethnic of Orang Asli community from Mukim Pelangai, Mukim Sabai and Mukim Bentong.  Among the Orang Asli who attended are from Kg. Sg. Dua Ulu, Kg. Sg. Dula Olak, Kg. Sg. Merjok, Kg. Sg. Gabong, Kg. Sg. Lebak, Kg. Sg. Miak, Kg. Sg. Bot, Kg. Sg. Gapoi, Kg. Aji Kunur, Kg. Chinta Manis, Kg. Ulu Semei, Kg. Hulu Pareh and Kg. Hulu Chemperoh were gathered to participate in several Sukan Rakyat activities organised such as competition in Orang Asli traditional blowpipe (menyumpit), Sepak Raga Bulat, Upih Pinang game and Terompah Gergasi.  The Sukan Rakyat was also participated by the children, the local youth, employees from Unitab Medic Sdn. Bhd. (FOMEMA) and representatives from Government agencies.

“We shall continue to maintain the initiative of our CSR programme, which first began in 2013 and for the third time, in 2016 we are able to expand our programme on a larger scale together with Orang Asli community in Bentong District, where the statistics Department of Malaysia has classified 35.2% of the Orang Asli population as being ’hardcore poor’.  Most important is that, this initiative is taken by Unitab Medic (FOMEMA) to support the efforts by Government of Malaysia in providing better access to quality health services for Orang Asli community, many of whom still live in the interior areas”.

“We intend to educate them about the diseases at risk and the preventive measures should they take to lead a healthy lifestyle for their generation in the future.  This is the reason why we organise this programme, first to provide health services and to educate this community about a healthy lifestyle and proper hygiene.  Second, to show that we care about them and we are eager to help them towards a better life in line with the development of our country”, said Dato’ Mohd Hatar Bin Ismail.

He added “As we are operating in the health services industry, our objective is to bring a paradigm shift and a change in Orang Asli communities as well as to create awareness about the importance of maintaining and also improving their health conditions. We would like to assist the Orang Asli community by providing the health screening and consultation, so that they can concentrate on building a healthy life for their families,” says Dato’ Mohd Hatar Bin Ismail. 

“We hope that the outreach community programme held today brought some cheers to the Orang Asli and community here in Kampung Sg. Dua Ulu and hopefully the level of healthcare awareness among them will increase from time to time.  At Unitab Medic (FOMEMA), we will do its level best to extend our assistance to the people in need, should such an opportunity arises, aiming to further emphasise our continuos CSR’s goal of giving back to the society”, says Dato’ Mohd Hatar Bin Ismail before ending his speech at the event today.

Employers can now pay Medical Screening Fees for Foreign Workers at Pos Online Portal, Says FOMEMA

KUALA LUMPUR – In line with the advancement in technology and for customers’ convenience, FOMEMA, in collaboration with Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia”), has introduced an online payment channel for its customers whereby foreign workers’ agents and employers can make payments for foreign workers’ medical screening fees through Pos Online.  This is in addition to the payment methods using Banker’s Cheque / Bank Draft and Money Order at Post Offices and CIMB Clicks.

Dato’ Mohd Hatar Bin Ismail, President / Chief Executive Officer, Unitab Medic Sdn. Bhd. (FOMEMA) said, “We always believe that customers’ satisfaction and convenience will give positive results to the business and as such, FOMEMA is providing the customers more payment options by introducing payments of fees for foreign workers’ medical examination via Pos Online, a portal hosted by Pos Malaysia at www.posonline.com.my available 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week,” he told the media recently.

“Moreover, it is our business responsibility to improve efficiency by accommodating to our customers’ needs for convenience and faster services at the comfort of their homes and offices, just like online shopping nowadays,” he added.

Dato’ Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh, Pos Malaysia’s Group Chief Executive Office said, “The collaboration between Pos Malaysia with FOMEMA is aligned with one of our strategies in tapping further, the potential of the e-Commerce sector whose growth is highly anticipated nationwide as it involves fast delivery of goods and services, and in this case providing ease of payment transactions of medical screening fees for employers and agents dealing with foreign workers,”.

“Pos Online customers will get to experience an improved data accuracy and automated receipt and payment processing to manage and streamline dispute with Pos Malaysia and FOMEMA.  In addition, electronic payment system makes it easier for employers to track and monitor data to ensure adherence to complex compliance regulations and all business rules,” he added.
